DFI Session 7

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?

I chose to follow the smart and legal lesson as attached above my students have recently agreed to the Kawa of Care and now need to understand why it is so important. This will be a great lesson to run through with my learners to reinforce what they agreed to. Because they are young and it is their first time learning about the terms and conditions they will need that reinforcing also.

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?

As a professional I found learning more about Hapara was very helpful as I am new to this. any tips on here is handy for my workflow. I took away the importance of making sure to enforce adding work into the correct folders and how to view the student's work.

What did I learn that could be used with my learners?

As well as the Terms and Conditions lesson linked above and the Hapara tips I think the session today around Chromebooks was very helpful not only for me but will be for my learners to help ease their workload. They need work on using the keyboard so these tips were great especially knowing short cuts and where to locate tools on the keyboard. These tips will also be fantastic to improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life.

  1. Hi Rachel, I did enjoy the chance to spend time with your group today and learn more about what is going on in your teaching and learning space.
You really are making the most of this DFI opportunity and your learners are the beneficiaries. I like the way you focused on Terms and Conditions as a component of being Cybersmart today. This is often overlooked and will be a benefit to your learners.

  2. Kia ora Rachel,

It is so great to read about what you are learning and how you can apply it to your class situation. Those wee children will be really benefit from the enthusiasm and energy you will be bringing to class.

It is great to read about the things you are able to use to apply to your work to make things smarter not harder. Hapara has lots of great tools to use so you don't have to go hunting.

    Great screencastify too!
    Ngā mihi,
    Sharon

  3. Kia ora Rachel,

It is great to read your blogpost and view your amazing screencastify where you are making connections with how tools and technology can be used in your kura. I am sorry I could not be part of the DFI this week and support you with your learning. Keep up the great learning.
